| ❃ Preliminary Exam ❋ The preliminary exam is a qualifying stage and consists of a single paper with objective-type, multiple-choice questions. * Total Questions: 100 * Total Marks: 400 * Duration: 2 hours and 00 minutes * Marking Scheme: * +4 marks for each correct answer. * -1 mark for each incorrect answer (negative marking). The paper is divided into three sections: A. General Studies - No of Questions 40 Marks 160 B. General Arithmetic - No of Questions 30 Total Marks 120 C. Hindi - No of Questions 30 Marks 120 Total Questions - 100 Total Marks - 400 ❋ QUALIFYING MARKS IN PRE-EXAM ❋ ✦ UR - 40 % ✦ BC - 36.5 % ✦ EBC - 34 %

| Nature of Examination:- Objective In the light of Bihar Staff Selection Commission Examination Conducting Rules-2010, Preliminary Examination will be conducted if more than 40 (forty thousand) applications are received. Preliminary Examination can be conducted in more than one phase if more applications are received. In case of conducting examination in different phases, the result of the examination will be prepared by adopting the process of equalization. Preliminary Examination will be objective in nature. Through Preliminary Examination, candidates equal to (5) times the number of vacancies available category wise will be selected for the Main Examination. Separate advertisement will be published for the Main Examination. The questions will be objective and multiple choice. Total number of questions will be 100. 04 marks will be given for each correct answer and 01 mark will be deducted for each wrong answer. The duration of the examination will be 02 hours 00 minutes. The medium of language in the Preliminary Examination will be Hindi / English. If there is any difference between the Hindi and English question papers, then only the English questions will be considered. The syllabus prescribed for the exam is as follows- Preliminary Exam: In the preliminary exam, one paper will be of general knowledge, which will have the following subjects- (a) General Studies. - 40 Marks (b) Mathematics (General Arithmetic). - 30 Marks (c) Hindi - 30 Marks
The questions will be objective and multiple choice. The total number of questions will be 100. 4 marks will be given for each correct answer and 1 mark will be deducted for each wrong answer. The duration of the exam will be 2 hours 00 minutes. The medium of language in the preliminary exam will be Hindi/English. If there is any difference between the Hindi and English question papers, then only the English questions will be considered.
Syllabus:- The preliminary exam syllabus is as follows- Section (A) :- General Arithmetic - Number Systems (LCM, HCF, real, rational, irrational, and integer numbers) * Roots and percentages (square root, cube root, percentage) * Profit and loss * Discount and sales tax * Simple and compound interest * Time and distance * Ratio and inverse ratio Section (B) :- General Studies - Current events (national and international) * Scientific progress * National and international awards * Indian languages, books, and currencies * Sports and important events * History of India and neighboring countries * Geography, economy, and culture of India and Bihar * Indian Constitution and Political System * Panchayati Raj and community development * Five-year plans * India's Freedom Movement, with a special focus on Bihar's contribution Section (C) :- Hindi - संज्ञा, सर्वनाम, लिंग, विशेषण, प्रविशेषण, पर्यायवाची शब्द, कारक, मुहावरा, काल, संधि, विलोम शब्द, समास, लोकोक्ति, अनेक शब्दों के लिए एक शब्द, शब्द - शुद्धि, वाक्य शुद्धि, तत्सम तदभव शब्द, उपसर्ग, मुहावरा, प्रत्यय, उपसर्ग। > 10वीं कक्षा की पाठ्यपुस्तक के गद्य खंड एवं काव्य खंड के अंश, रचनाकार पर आधारित प्रश्न।
